Apple iOS Never to Support Leica DNG?

In an interesting piece about "Why Photosmith dumped iOS's built-in raw-photo support" we learn that the developers of the Lightroom companion app for iPad opted to build in their own raw-photo support to get better control, avoid Apple bugs, and support more cameras... Such as Leica, among others. Apparently, Apple's API and camera support are lacking; difficult to work with and buggy as well. If you're shooting a Leica, check out Photosmith!

Then you get to practical stuff like the fact that they don't support Leica DNG images and probably never will...

Leica MP and X2 Olive Limited Editions

DC Watch reports that a new Leica MP Olive and X2 Olive limited editions were announced in Japan to commemorate the opening of the Leica Store Kyoto, which will take place on March 15, 2014. It will be the 7th domestic store and located in the Machiya building on the main street of the beautiful Gion "Hanami alley" district of Kyoto. The cameras can be purchased there on that date and select other stores and boutiques as of April 1, 2014. Read more below for additional details and images!

Tobias Gaulke - eBooks on Street Photography

Tobias Gaulke has released a new (free) eBook on street photography; his second. The first was called "Das ist doch keine Kunst!" and was released in 2013. It's 46 pages and written in German. His latest is called "Wherever I may roam..." and is hot off the presses! This time it's written in English, and comes in at 58 pages. Well worth checking them out. Thanks a lot, Tobias!

Leica Store Manila to Open

The first Leica store in the Philippines will open in April (or May) at Greenbelt 5 in Makati City (part of metropolitan Manila). They're urging us to "be patient as the design and other requirements for the store will come from the headquarters…" For more information, follow Leica Philippines on Facebook.
